Counsellor and Art Therapist
Find a safe place to unravel what is problematic in your life with an experienced and gentle practitioner.
Caro is deeply passionate about counselling and art therapy and how they can help change lives. She understands that it can be overwhelming to reach out and go to a first session so please read the information below and feel free to call Caro directly to discuss your needs 0422 926 928.
Counselling offers a safe space to explore difficult issues and unlock some of the ‘stuck-ness’ we can find ourselves in. Counselling can help to create greater self-awareness and foster self-acceptance. Once we have a truer sense of ourselves we are more able to make life decisions that better represent our needs and aspirations. If you are experiencing emotional distress or feeling ‘stuck’, we can work together to gain insight and instill hope that change is possible.
As a counsellor, Caro sees herself as a skilled companion for people who have chosen to embark on one of life’s hardest journeys – that of healing and self-acceptance. Stress, depression and anxiety manifest in many different ways and therefore require individual approaches.
Caro works through a number of evidence-based modalities including Emotion Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Art Therapy, Mindfulness, Person Centred Therapy and Dream Analysis.
Art Therapy Services
‘Often the hands will solve a mystery that the intellect has struggled in vain with.’ - Carl Jung
Just like counseling, art therapy helps to resolve a variety of issues and internal conflicts. It uses creative processes like drawing, sculpture and collage to bridge internal and external worlds. This allows what is going on inside you to be expressed in a new way, providing insight from different perspectives. Creating these connections also develops attunement and intuition.
If you have difficulty talking about things or find yourself completely stuck in something, art therapy can be really useful as it gives you another way of communicating your feelings. Plus, it is a fantastic relaxation tool with many people reporting an increased sense of calmness and centeredness after sessions. In this way it is an excellent approach for reducing anxiety and stress.
Caro is not an artist and you don’t have to be either! It is not about being Picasso, but the rich process of creation. As well as group workshops Caro practices art therapy in private one-on-one counselling sessions. Words sometimes trick us into staying rigid in our old ways. Stepping into a creative process can bypass some of these patterns and help you to form healthy new ones.
- Masters of Counselling
- Diploma of Art Therapy
- Diploma of Community Development
- Certificate IV in Alcohol and other Drugs
Caro is available for home visits where it’s difficult to come to the clinic due to child-care.
